Free Donuts.

A picture is worth a thousand words… and if you follow my instagram pictures, you’ll see that I posted a few last night. But lets start with Friday.

Friday morning I woke up to a parking ticket. Street sweeping. One part of California I can’t seem to avoid. Wonderful.

Friday afternoon I am informed that there are some…. we’ll say “complications,” with my living situation. Long story short, my roommates and I all have to be out by the end of the weekend.

Saturday, I spend all day packing my belongings and loading them into my car. DC comes over after work so we can tie my mattress to the roof of his car. We’re classy like that.

LATE Saturday night.. we’re almost to his place, where I plan to crash until I can work out my living situation. 8 miles to go… and my car breaks down. Overheating. We let it cool, drove 5 blocks, let it cool…. (repeat 6 times).

By 3am, we call a tow because there’s literally nothing else we can do. Of course… the tower only takes cash. Proceed to find an ATM at 3:30am.

3 short hours of sleep later DC leaves for work and I face the car repairs.

Turns out there was nothing wrong with my car, specifically. Someone ELSE lost a pulley on the freeway. It oh-so-unconveniently bounced into my engine, shredding a belt and damaging my pulley stabilizer thingy-ma-bob.

A few hundred dollars later, we’re happy we’re both safe and that everything is repaired. One day, we’ll look back and laugh. Technically, we laughed about it last night. But that might have been the deliriousness of being sleepy.

The good news is this: During our 5-block at a time journey, we stopped at a donut shop and the cashier threw in a free donut! Win.

It all comes down to free donuts. Life is good 🙂
